2022 Sleeping Lady Cabernet Franc Yountville

From the renowned Sleeping Lady vineyard, south of Yountville on the western side of Napa Valley. The vineyard is situated on a gentle slope at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains. The soil is alluvial cobble wash and limits the vigor of the vines. Resulting wines are structural and dense in nature.

Only four barrels of the 2022 Sleeping Lady Cab Franc were produced!

Deep garnet-purple in color, it prances out of the glass with evocative scents of Morello cherries and red currant jelly, leading to suggestions of rose oil, cardamom, and pencil lead plus a waft of lavender. The full-bodied palate is electric with red berry flavors, supported by ripe, grainy tannins and great tension, finishing long and perfumed. Gorgeous!

One of the standouts in the vintage (which is no surprise, as Cabernet Franc excelled in 2022), the 2022 Cabernet Franc Sleeping Lady Vineyard offers pretty red and blue fruits and floral notes, with medium to full-bodied richness on the palate. It shows a wonderful sense of purity, fine tannins, and an elegant, focused style. Made from 100% Cabernet Franc and aged 22 months in 60% new French oak, drink over the coming 10-12 years.
