2023 The Grove Cabernet Sauvignon St. Helena

The Grove tends to be our most outgoing Cabernet bottling.  The 2023 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, and of course comes entirely from the Lewelling Ranch in St. Helena.  It is our northernmost Cabernet site in Napa Valley and is usually the first Cabernet Vineyard that we pick each vintage.   

Without hesitation, we believe the 2023 Grove is most serious and superior vintage that we have produced.

It is replete with dense, dark fruit, intense mouth watering texture and robust length that is a signature of the vintage.

"The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon The Grove comes from the Lewelling Vineyard in St. Helena. They relined their water reservoirs on the property in 2022, which gives them more access to water, and I think that has changed the wine here, with recent vintages showing a touch more freshness and elegance. Aged 22 months in 75% new French oak, this 2023 offers cassis, blue fruits, smoked tobacco, and chocolate in the aromatics, and it's full-bodied on the palate, with a plush, yet still pure, focused mouthfeel, building tannins, and a great finish. It's a head turner that will evolve for two decades. Drink 2025-2045."

The Lewelling Ranch is a special place------a vineyard and homesite tucked behind the town of St. Helena and owned and operated by the same family since the 1860's!  It is rich in history and steeped in tradition.  We are honored to have learned from and worked with the Wight family since 2014.

Only five barrels of the 2023 Grove were made.

Our labels incorporate patterns and textures that occur in nature. This one is an artistic representation of the olive grove that is adjacent to the block of Cabernet that we work with.
